Knowing how to use a computer has become a necessity for many people.  In order for you to know how to use a computer, you need to understand some fundamental concepts of the computer, for example what contributes to making the computer run and operate correctly.  This course introduces the computer and how it functions to learners.  Learners will get a thorough understanding of information and communication.  The Internet and email are essential communication tools; it has become necessary, and will be of great benefit to most people in professional and non-professional environments, to be proficient in using these tools.  Learners will understand the Internet and email concepts.
Word processing involves creating and editing text documents.  These documents can be in many different forms, including publications, professional letters, or even reports.  Learners will be introduced to the concepts of word processing.  Learners will understand and use a spreadsheet to organise data and presenting information.
Databases are structured collections of data that can be manipulated in various ways to produce desired results.  If you understand the concepts of databases, you will discover many ways in which you can, for example, sort data and represent it in a report.  Learners will be introduced to the concepts of databases and understand and learn how to create a new presentation, and how to add images, charts, and objects to your presentation.  Learners will also learn how to apply animation and transition effects to make a presentation come to life.
