The Pre-degree programme offers access to students who did not meet the degree programme entry requirements.  The programme spans a full year, and on passing the appropriate subjects, learners will be permitted to register for a degree programme the following year. As a bridging year between school and university-level education, the aim of the programme is to teach learners the academic skills and responsibilities required to succeed at a tertiary level, in a supportive environment.

Learners registering on the programme are allocated a set curriculum, comprised of the following core subjects: Academic Skills, Pre-degree English, and either Bridging Maths or Development Studies, depending on the proposed field of study. In addition, learners are allocated Computer Skills, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective College Students” by FranklinCovey®, and one degree module from their proposed degree.  Learners are required to pass both semesters of each core module before being eligible for the degree programme.

In collaboration with FranklinCovey South Africa, MGI offers the well acclaimed “Seven Habits of Highly Effective College Students”* to all Pre-degree students. This programme is offered at no additional cost, not only provides a wealth of personal development to students, but also plays a significant role in preparing students for their university-level studies and life in general.
